Difference From with HANA Live Connection (Calculation View)

Hello,

we've tried to use the "Difference from" function for a Calculation VIew with a HANA Live Connection. In the story the function "difference from" is not available.

I found a note, said that I need to have a Time Dimension in the HANA Calculation View. What does it mean exactly? I have multiple columns from the m_time_dimension in my view.

our system is on HANA 2 SPS2

i think you're on the right tracks with the need for a Date object, and should troubleshoot why yours aren't showing.

the SAC help pages suggest you need this to performance the 'Difference From' calc https://help.sap.com/doc/00f68c2e08b941f081002fd3691d86a7/release/en-US/f351ecb9d018481091020e16aafa...

I'd recommend taking a look at some of the best practice for this type of connection at this wiki over here: https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOC/SAP+Analytics+Cloud+-+Hana+live+connection+Best+Practices

You'll notice that there are a few specific infos about time handling - such as the need for DATE and DATE_SQL data types. and some specific level based time hierarchy formats that need to be defined (pls. see the wiki).

I think I've all types of dates in my model (Time level hierarchy, date, datetimestamp) but I cannot see the "Difference From" function

HANA Version: 2.00.024.00.1520347815.

I must admit i'm running out of suggestions - final thing - do you have the EPMMDS plugin installed on your SAP HANA 2.0 system, and in which case, which version please?

I'm wondering if.. (from Note 2444261) you might need to enable a later version .

I'm going to see if Mihaela can comment again, else perhaps we might need to go the Product Support route. Let's confirm back here shortly

I've changed the level type of the hierarchy and I had to create a new model. That worked! Now I can see the "difference from". Is it always neccessary to create a new model?
