Deprecated domains and Data elements - Pre conversion project

Hi SAP team,

we need guidance on below issue:

Context:

Client is doing a S/4HANA conversion for ECC to S/4HANA. We have N and N 1 Landscape here.

N is for current Business As Usual landscape.

N 1 Landscape is being created for S/4HANA where system copies from N will be copied in N 1 and SUM tool will be executed.

Issue:

Option 1: In N 1 DEV conversion - we will come across a stage in Uptime phase of SUM - ACT_UPG where we will remediate deprecated domains and data elements with custom domains and data elements. These will be captured in a TR in N 1 DEV. This TR will be imported in N landscape and will be tested and moved to Production ( In N Landscape)

Option 2: In N 1 DEV conversion - we will come across a stage in Uptime phase of SUM - ACT_UPG where we will remediate deprecated domains and data elements with custom domains and data elements. These will be captured in a TR in N 1 DEV. This TR will NOT move in N Landscape and will go in N 1 QA, N 1 TEST and finally in PROD.

Option 3: Make changes directly in PROD uptime phase.

Question:

When we will do Upgrade/conversion for Production will we get an option to import the TR that we created in N 1 DEV in Production conversion in Uptime phase ? Will it pose any problems if we go ahead with Option 2 as above ?

what will be best strategy for this considering all above 3 options.

Hi,

the preferred way is to integrate the Transport Request of the dev system into the conversion in SUM as SPAU and SPDD transports. By this, the required changes are integrated in the DDIC activation already so that the activation errors that were already solved in dev will not appear in Q and PROD.

The procedure is described in the SUM Guide (Modification and Enhancement Adjustment Planning), and SAP Note 2207944 (Automatically incorporate these SAP Note implementations into the SUM procedure for other systems in the landscape).

If you also need to integrate other customer transports (not only SPAU/SPDD), e.g. for customizing, this is also possible with SUM. See SUM Guide: Integrating Customer Transports into the Update Procedure for more details.

Best regards, Florian
