I have submitted questions lately regarding COPA and handling Realignment in R/3 and how it affects deltas that have been running in BW, essentially destroying the delta and a re-init has to take place. I have gotten great answers from everyone and this is the last question I need answered.
When realignment happens in R/3 you have to re-init the delta in BW. Re-init can take a lot of time. I've seen many customers that state their deltas have a selection by fiscper, for example.
My question is how to make this work and how it works exactly concerning COPA and realignment?
When a realignment happens don't you have to re-init from scratch (all of history)? How can you make this work with a selection by fiscper? By selecting fiscper as a selection in the infopackage, I assume when realignment happens you have to delete the delta by 'Scheduler -> Initialization options from source system'. This deletes the delta.
Sorry for the confusion. If someone could clarify that would be great.
Thanks, Mike
Hi Mike,
SAP does not recommend different Inits for COPA ()
You cannot 0FISCPER as a selection in the InfoPackage for the Init run, after you have already run an Init wide open (i.e. without any selection).
When you go through 'Scheduler -> Initialization options from source system', this will delete the Init request previously loaded. This is required to be done before you can execute another Init if it overlaps previous Inits.
Hope this helps...

HI Bhanu,
Thanks for the reply.
Basically I'm looking for how to best handle the scenerio of when a realignment happens in R/3 and what to do in BW.
Are you running an init wide open and then when realignment happens, re-init again? Our realignment will happen about 1X a month. The re-init will take some time.
Your thoughts?
Thanks Mike
Also, note 696936 says you can run new delta init with "new logoc"

Hai Mike,
You are right. The previous initialization can be cancelled through Scheduler. In the same infor package when you delete the initalization and when the scheduler is empty, an option reappears in your infopackage "update" tab. Here you can select initialization with or without data transfer. If you choose to "with data transfer", then all the information in the source as of that date as per the delta dates. For selection, go to data selection tab to select the fiscPer. You have different option there to enter a value, a variable, write a program etc. just click on Type column in that tab.
Hope this helps.
