Deletion of Objects from Tasks

Hello Experts,

I'm in a situation where i need some reassurance that my understanding is right:

Lately i collected the process chains, and the various process-type-variants in a task.

Now, I figured that the naming convention wasn't compliant with the set standards, so i recreated (replaced the old ones with the new ones) some of the vaiants. They got collected under the same task.

Now, I donot want to transport any of the old varaints that i initially created, so i deleted them from the task.

While doing so, I got a prompt that said "Object is locked", i proceeded, another prompt that said "Delete Object from List..?" , i said yes.

Now, I believe ,i have left the unwanted tasks out and thus when the request gets imported, the Q-box would have the new variants only.

The question is, am i correct...? or will the old variants still reach the target system.

Thankyou Comrades,

K.

Saikumar, as long as you were certain you deleted the unused variants and not the used ones, you should be ok. If you accidentally deleted any of the variants that are in the chains you are transporting, your transport will error out. In that case, just recollect the correct variants and transport, and reimport the transport with the chains.

I think you would have been ok to go ahead and transport the old variants along with the new variants. The old variants would exist in the target system but would not be used anywhere. Then you could delete the old variants in the source system and transport the deletions. It is always risky to mess with removing objects from existing transport requests.

Hi,

Ur understanding is correct.U can go ahead and make the transport to Q.Only the new variants shall get imported-since only they are now present under the task

hope it helps
