Data level (Row level) Security

Can we apply data level security in SAP analytics cloud stories.

Hi Vilay,

Yes you can. There are several ways:

• In the modeller page you can enable data access control in a dimension. After enabling 2 extra column will appear in the model: read and write. There you can define users or groups for each value of the dimension.

• You can apply filters during role creation. After defining the permissions for a role there is another tab called models. There you can define filters for the role for specific model and its dimensions.

• Last but best you can apply row level security via SSO. So that you can consume the authorization defined in the source system.

It's useful when we have less users and less rows in dimension but how about if we have more users and thousands of rows in dimension.

Please let us know is there any other way to apply data security instead assigning it at each row?

You are right if you have thousands Vijay. Instead of defining security to users one by one you can assign them to teams in SAC and assign the roles to the team. That may be easier. It is more or less the same in BW or any other tool.
