Hi Team,
One of our clients is looking for information related to the pros and cons of using ETL (Ascential) tool Vs BIW.
The client is using their own reporting tool and wants to extract the data from ECC and mySAP applications using ETL tool (Ascential). Please provide the advantages and disadvantages of using the same.
BI is not their standard reporting tool and wants to know the advantages of using the same.
Please provide any documents that explain the same.
Thanks
Anita

Gili,
Thanks for the link. That was useful. But the link only explains data loading using the ETL tool and then to BW.
I am looking for the pro's and con's of using ETL to the clients reporting tool(Crystal Reports) and compare it with BW data extraction and BW reports.

See the following url, it list 2 or 3 documents that can be useful:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/advancedsearch?query=ascential%20bw&cat=sdn_library
In general, if BW is not their reporting solution, the main issue is license cost and ROI. BTW - what's their data wareousing and reporting solution?
Hope it helps,
Gili

Hi anita,
I think you can find some good arguments on DataMining/APD tools and Planning and Simulation tools of BI or SEM-BPS.
Also in SDN in Business Intelligence area you can find a lot of documents on these topics.
Ciao.
