Hello,

we want to create dashboard with hierarchy selector. Data comes from Webi with Bex connection.

In Webi I see hierarchy without any problems, and I want to use this hierarchy in dashboard.  What is the best way to create dashboard with hierarchy selector on top of webi data?

big thanks

Hi Sapanesh,

I already tried new direct connection in FP03 from dashboard to query,in query browser when i select BEX, , it is showing only the CMS name(nothing else). also "next" button is disabled.

I already created OLAP connection in IDT, but still empty query browser in Dasboard designer. Please advise where sould be problem?

thanks

HI Jan,

Please try creating the Olap connection from CMC with authentication as predefine.

also bex query should be available  for external access(BW people can help here).

Thanks,
Sapanesh

Hi Sapanesh,

I have external access in query and I already tried connection from CMC,but still it is showing only BOE server name,no queries,no cubes.

I Didn’t find any OSS notes about minimal BW level.

thanks

Hi Jan,

Are the same Olap connection is visible in webi rich client for Bex connection?

if this is visible then should be available for dashboard even.

and the authentication type should be predefine in CMC Olap Connection its mandatory.

Thanks,
Sapanesh

Hi Jan,

Try using web sevice to get the data.

Create a Universe--> Use that Universe and using QAAWS create a query and generate a URL. Use that Web service URL to load the data in to Dashboards. This might solve your problem. Give it a try.

Thanks,

Nag

Hi Jan,

Create a webi on top of Bex directly no need for universe in between.

Publish the webi block as web service which result in one WSDL url.

use this WSDL as Web service(qaaws)  connection in Dashboard designer.

Thanks,
Sapanesh

Hi Sapanesh,

  thanks for reply.

I know about abiut Bex, but

We want to create dashboard with hierarchy
selector.

if data comes from Webi with Bex connection, in Webi I see hierarchy without any problems,
and I want to use this hierarchy in dashboard, but in dashboard selector I
don’t see rows as a hierarchy. What is the best way to create dashboard with
hierarchy selector on top of webi data?

By now we have only one solution, we can‘t
use bex connection , but using  connection
through
universum, where I see hierarchy levels, and for each level we can set
selector in dashboard. But with this solution we have a problem for displaying
result separately by each level of hierarchy. Did you created hierarchy selector this way?

thanks

Hi Jan,

As Raj mentioned we can connect with BW using Add "query option" its not a direct connection its new in FP3, we just need to create a connection in IDT and use this connection in Add query (Like UNX).

You can also add one Live office connection for webi report.

also we can also create hierarchy node as a variable in BW so that its automatically available in webi or live office.

Thanks,
Sapanesh

Hi,

Any how you have 4.0 FP3, you can directly connect to BEx using Query Browser and you have Hierarchy Component in FP3

try to watch SAP  SCN Videos

Hi Raj, direct connect to Bex from Dashb. isn't possible. we have old BI 7.0, we don't have 7.01 SP5. And we need webi because of precalculating report. Dashboard have to be fast.

thanks
