Customizable/ Custom Fields 01-15

Summary: How are Custom Fields 01-15 mapped?

In our implementation instance provided by SAP, some users have dates set for Custom01, other details for Custom05, but I cannot tell how it is there, and why some users only have it.

How can I put details into these custom01, custom02 fields?

For example, I would like to like to place/copy "First Name" into Custom01. I cannot tell how I can do this in the Admin Portal/Settings.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello @Edmund_S ,

Basically custom fields 1 to 15 are used for Employee profile information. Usually these fields are mapped to Employee central fields of HRIS elements through the hris sync mappings.

You can view the hris sync mappings in the manage business configuration pretty easily to see all the mappings of currently used custom fields 1 to 15 in your instance.

To be honest you don't need these custom fields for First name, last name etc as these are available directly available through hard coded mappings.

Check out these KBA's https://me.sap.com/notes/2512669 , https://me.sap.com/notes/2172427https://me.sap.com/notes/2363922

Hope this helps! Good luck.

Regards,

Surya

Hi,

Thanks for the reply and appreciate your help.

I've applied some sample fields into the HRIS Sync Mappings so that an example would be Position going to custom01, and Original Start Date going to custom12.

I've gone to the scheduled job manager, and seen the HRIS Sync was run, and I also triggered a new one - just to be sure.

However, the data regarding custom01 and custom12 does not change. For the example user I had before still displays a date of "11/30/2015", which I still have no clear way of why that is there.

Also showing the details in Integration Center, where again it's bringing back these dates which seem to have remained there since we got this instance from SAP.

You can check the configuration in the configure people profile to see which fields are configured to show up on employee profile banner section. Navigation: Configure people profile> General settings > Configure header fields. You can also check whether the data exists for a custom field through HRIS sync or not by exporting the UDF(User Data File) through "employee export" tool. Hope this helps

Hi, thanks again.

So I've gotten a bit further. I mapped some details to Custom01, Custom2, and I also renamed Custom12 to Standard Hours as I was trying out some business examples  in https://learning.sap.com/learning-journeys/configure-sap-successfactors-employee-central-core/config...)

However, after much attempts at syncing- the only way it did eventually sync the mappings was to make a change directly to the user. So I went and changed Standard Hours from 40 to 39. This had a knock on effect, and now for only that user - the 3 custom fields have mapped correctly.

see below:

However, for the other users in the instance, it hasn't updated their custom fields. Somehow I feel that Sync HRIS job data is not taking everybody into account?
