current number of active sessions only increases

Hi,

Recently installed BI 4.2 SP04. It's a small configuration for max 30 named users, 16 GB RAM.

Now we're experiencing an issue where we receive the following error: Connection failed. server has reached the maximum number of simultaneous connections (Error: RWI 00239)

Maximum number of connections is set to 200. So when the current number of active sessions from the webi processing server reaches 200, it will throw this error. The max number of users who were simultaneously running reports is 5 over the last 3 months

I've monitored the 'current number of active sessions' metric from the webi [processing server and it just never seems to go down. If I open a report the number goes up, if I close the report the number won't go down. Even after logging out and waiting for 20 minutes, the session remains active.

Any ideas on this?

Regards,

Yvo van de ruit

Hi,

Please check below two SAP KBAs:

1517019 - "Connection failed. The server has reached the maximum number of simultaneous connections....

2012623 - The maximum connection limit has been reached. (Error: RWI 00239) (Error: INF) or (Error: ...

Additionally, are you aware since when did you start facing this issue? Was there any upgrade made?

Did you change any session timeout parameter for your webapps? BI Launchpad?

How is your environment setup? I mean is it clustered/standalone? How many webi processing servers do you have?

Do you only have named user licenses or concurrent users also? Is the issue observed with only name user license key or concurrent as well?

Do you face the same issue when you open a report with Administrator user?

Have you tried restarting the SIA once to release all the sessions and then try fresh. If not then can you try to restart the SIA and then observe for any pattern or workflow to replicate this issue.

Thanks,

Megh

Hi Megh,

Thanks for your answer!

No update, just a clean standalone installation, 1 webi processing server(as we have 1 CPU) and no parameters changed. We only have named users. When opening reports as Administrator all works fine, sessions are cleared when a report is closed.

SIA has been restarted every time the error appears.
