Crystal Reports 2008 Export to excel from Cross-Tab

hi,

I created a cross-tab report having multiple summarized fields which is calculated fields and used only for the summary total display(used to calculate summary at different levels). So I suppressed all the columns except one which keeps the sum of all the suppressed fields in the same row. When I exported to pdf from the crystal report viewer it works as expected. But when I exported to Excel it is a total mess.

It keeps a blank cell for each suppressed field. Is there any way to remove this blank cells while exporting. All the fields are same height and are horizontaly left aligned.

I tried to export this into excel in data only format, it gives me error like * Error detected by export DLL: The report contains data that spans more than the maximum number of allowed columns in MS-Excel. Retry specifying a larger column width.*

Is there any better way to format cross-tab to keep excel useful?

Please post your thoughts.

Thanks

Jes

You've posted to the NET Development - Crystal Reports forum. Are you seeing this issue in the Crystal Reports designer, or in a .NET app that uses Crystal Reports SDK? If this issue occurs in the CR designer, please post to the Crystal Reports Design forum:

I will post this in designer forum as well.

Sounds good. That would be the first place to fix things (the CR designer). Typically, if it does not work in the designer, it will not work at runtime either.

It works fine while running from designer and also with exported pdf. Problem is while exporting to excel.

thanks
