Crystal Report 2016 crashing issue

Hi,

I'm currently experiencing an issue with Crystal Reports 2016. When I connect to the server and select the option "Update Connected Repository Objects on Open", the report closes automatically after opening the template. I'm using Service Pack 7 (SP7).  For your information, this issue only occurs with a specific report template. Other templates do not have this problem.

Could this issue be related to the driver, or might there be another cause? Thank you.

The repository is in Crystal Reports Server or BOE, it could be you don't have rights to access the CR Server.

Or the object used is no longer available.

Check with your CRS/BOE Admin for usage rights.

Hi DonWilliams,

Thanks for your respond. I am able to connect to the repository from the report template, so I should have the right to access the CR server.

Try right clicking on the CR Designer icon and select Run as Administrator, could also be your AV or Firewall possibly blocking access to CR's required resources. Open the Event Viewer and see if it indicates what the cause is.

Unfortunately that file has a lot of dependencies on it, used in just about everything, so hard to say what the cause it.

Is your BOE/CRS server the same patch level and CR Designer? If not talk to your CRS/BOE Admin about upgrading to match.

Do other users have the same problem?

Try accessing it from a different PC or logging in as Admin when connecting.

You may want to open an Incident and get one of SAP Support Engineers to look into it for you:

https://support.sap.com/en/index.html

Requires a support contract which you should have.

Other users are experiencing the same issue, even when using different machines. The problem still persists. By the way, thank you for your help.

Other users using different machines is the clue... likely some permission issue in CRS/BOE, Get your Admin to look at the users having issues...

But it should cause CRD to crash. I highly recommend creating a Support Incident and get a SAP Rep to look into the issue... I could be a bug.
