CPI message mapping: how to remove the extra null context

In my source data, there are some empty node which become null context in the message mapping, is there a way that I can remove these extra null context in message mapping? Below are sample xml

<references/>

<references>

<typeCode>order</typeCode>

<id>111</id>

</references>

and the capture are how it looks like in the message mapping.
