I refer to a lot of documents on SAP help portal and wiki.

The connectivity options just says “for SAP and Non-SAP systems”. It seems not clearly stated that SAP PI could Support communication between two non-SAP systems.

Dear all,

SAP is part of the SAP NetWeaver platform. where we used for the exchange of information in the interal system of the company or with second and third parties. In SAP PI, We have a some scenario like we show third party system has been certified by SAP and has got some intelligence. Because SAP PI, we can define two types of communication which is synchronous and Asynchronous.

Hi Azael,

Thanks for your guides. We have a SAP PI 7.31 system but not make good use of it, and I just want to know some key features or capabilities before test in system. So I asked this question and I'll give you feedback after my test.

Best regards

Xiangyi

Hi Xiangyi

Yes we've just upgraded from 7.3 to 7.5

The reason for the upgrade was that 7.5 has a much longer maintenance support lifetime than 7.3 but the basic features of PI 7.5 are very much the same as 7.3 and 7.4

Kind regards

Mark

Hi Xiangyi

The XI Adapter and SOAP Adapter are most commonly used for SAP to SAP communication, but all the other many Adapters are available for non-SAP to non-SAP communication.

We have over 60% of non-SAP integrations in place using SAP PI 7.5

Hope that helps

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your reply. Does SAP PI 7.3 or 7.4 has the same feature?

Best regards,

Xiangyi

Hi Xiangyi,

Yes, PI supports communication between two non-SAP system as well.

The scenarios can be File To File, File To AS2 based on how the non-SAP system connects via PI.

Thanks.
