Hi,
We've been using SAP Netweaver Gateway Trial for Linux SP2 (installed in a Virtual Machine (.vmx) offered by SUsE as explained in the virtualization guide), we`ve develop some apps with the Flight Demo and now we want to try the virtues of Gateway in our existing SAP system, we manage to make the conection to our instance via the SAP MC and access our system, our question is (and this may be very basic), can we build consumptions models and publish them using the Gateway features from this vmx installation over our sap database or this trial is only limited to the demo systems that are included in? Isnt there any configuration needed to be done in our back-end system? If our company wants to buy a full Gateway License (we`ve been using the 90 days trial license) what does that means in terms of instalation of Gateway over our SAP System?
Many thanks,
Andrès de la Torre

Hello Andrès,
The Gateway Trial system can be connected to your backend system (eg. ECC/ERP). Your backend system would need the component: IW_BE installed which handles the communication between Gateway and the system itself. You can view the requirements of your backend system here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_gateway20sp02/helpdata/en/76/08828d832e4aa78748e9f82204a864/content.htm
I also put together a guide here with reference to the system connection:
For reference you may want to review the license situation of the Gateway system. The system itself does not have a license, but it is rather "user license" oriented.
With regard to the installation in terms of architecture, you can either install GW as a seperate system or directly in your backend system, there was some discussion here:
Hope this helps, Paul
