Cloud Foundry memory plan required for HTML5 apps?

Hello community,

I’d appreciate insights on whether CF memory assignment is essential in this specific scenario.

[Scencrio overview]

I’m working on developing and deploying a Fiori app to the managed approuter. Here's the approach I’ve followed:

  1. Develop a Fiori app in Build Code within the Dev subaccount.
  2. Prepare the Deploy subaccount by enabling Cloud Foundry (CF), subscribing to Build Work Zone (standard edition), and the XSUAA application plan.
  3. Deploy the Fiori app to the Deploy subaccount's HTML5 application repository, which is enabled via Build Work Zone.

This scenario is thoroughly explained in the mission "Get Started on SAP BTP with SAPUI5/Fiori - Create a Hello World App" available here: https://discovery-center.cloud.sap/missiondetail/3585/3628/ .

[Question]

The mission suggests assigning CF memory to the Deploy subaccount. However, I’m wondering if this step is truly necessary.

From my understanding, a Fiori app is a frontend application that the HTML5 application repository can serve. Without assigning CF memory, I was able to successfully deploy the app to the HTML5 Applications repository and run the app. The underlying services were also deployed to the CF space using the free dependent services.

Btw, I recognize that assigning CF memory is typically required for full-stack applications with a standalone app-router scenario, where the application itself is deployed to the CF space.
