Hi...making system copies the standard way (either backup/restore and/or db ex/import) i am familiar with...but what about a SAP system running in a VMWare environment? is it possible to just "clone" the system adjusting IP, hostname and SID afterwards using special tools and/or scripts provided by VMWare? Or do i have to do it the "standard" way by transferring data (either backup/restore or db dump data) between these two virtual systems and adjusting the appropriate parameters afterwards (eg. SE06, STMS etc.)?
Any help appreciated!!!

There is something for Oracle:
[SAPInst and Oracle: ASM, Exadata, DB Rename in SAPinst |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/ora?rid=/library/uuid/10d79b53-24fe-2e10-96b9-f9b9777ee8d2&QuickLink=ora&overridelayout=true]

There will be a way in the future to "rename" a system after having done a copy using "cloud tools" (which can be VMWare).
Check

and the article
"Landscape Virtualization Management Software on the Horizon"

In case of VMWare, same 'standard' process of SAP System copy is 'applicable'. There is no difference if you compare it with non-vmware landscape/environment.
However, if you still want to find out if it is possible using some VMWARE tools too then let's see if our other colleagues here can help you.
Thanks
