Clarification on Solman Application for SAP Satellite/Managed Systems in SAP HANA Private Cloud

Hello Solman and SAP Cloud Experts,

I would like to clarification about SAP Solution Manager (Solman) applications for SAP Satellite/Managed Systems in SAP HANA Private Cloud.

Activities for SAP Satellite/Managed Systems Migrating to SAP HANA Private Cloud:

In the context of SAP Solution Manager on-premises, and SAP Satellite/Managed systems migrating or already migrated to the SAP HANA private cloud, could you provide clarity on the activities that need to be carried out? Specifically, I am interested in systems using Solman applications such as ChaRM, SolDoc, EWA, SysMon, DVM, etc. What steps should be taken if transport requests exist in change requests, change documents, or phase cycles with old system entries? How should we proceed in such cases?

SAP Diagnostics Agent Requirements:

Is it necessary to install the SAP Diagnostics Agent and establish connectivity to the Solution Manager on-premises to configure Managed System Configuration for SAP Satellite/Managed systems in the SAP HANA private cloud?

Installation and Access for SAP Diagnostics Agent:

If the SAP Diagnostics Agent needs to be installed at the OS level for both the SAP Application and SAP HANA database in the cloud, who would have access to the OS level at the SAP HANA private cloud, and who would be responsible for installing and connecting it to the Solution Manager on-premises?

Configuration of Solman Applications:

Is it possible to configure Solman applications such as EWA, Technical Monitoring, and DVM for SAP Satellite/Managed systems in the SAP HANA private cloud?

EWA Configuration to SAP Portal:

Can EWA be configured directly to the SAP Portal for SAP Satellite/Managed systems in the SAP HANA private cloud?

I would greatly appreciate your guidance on these matters. Please let me know if it would be more appropriate to submit an OSS ticket, or if there are any other forums or resources that could assist in addressing these queries.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Regards

Srinivas V.

Dear Srinivas,

The Solution Manager is also supported to be migrated to the SAP HANA Private Cloud. If you have any questions about the migration project, such as:
  - Do you have the OS permission after the migration?
  - What will be changed? The server's name, license?
You can reach out to the sales, project lead, CDM, TSM via emails for detailed information.

Here is some information from the SAP Support point of view:

1. Activities for SAP Satellite/Managed Systems Migrating to SAP HANA Private Cloud:
A: It depends on what is changed. The key for a system in the solution manager is SID + DBHostName + Installation Number.  Mostly the things that needs to be reworked are:

  • Managed System configuration needs to be performed again as hosts, etc. will be different. All SLD and LMDB needs to be redone. The hardware is changing so this must be reflected in LMDB. Once they're not changing the SIDs or systems, and they're performing a system copy, not a new build, everything remains the same.
To confirm steps for SLD/LMDB/ Managed System configuration, they may create a separate incident with the LMDB team.
  • Redefine Landscape needs to be performed for the change cycles.
They need to ensure that all open transports have been imported to production before making any changes in order to avoid any transport track inconsistencies.
The safest possible option for their existing Transport Requests would be to ensure that they are imported into production before performing the migration

  • They may also check the following KBAs:
#2834711 - How to set up synchronization without an SLD in Solution Manager 7.2 system as of SP09
#2521423 - Redefine Landscape action in Solution Manager 7.2
#1322696 - Work with Project Cycles where some systems are unavailable

2. SAP Diagnostics Agent Requirements:
A: solman on-prem and solman on cloud has no difference. The DAA is also required, especially for OS and non-ABAP system monitoring.

3. Installation and Access for SAP Diagnostics Agent:
A: check with the ECS team please.

4. Configuration of Solman Applications:
A: Yes. No difference with the solman on-prem

5. EWA Configuration to SAP Portal:
A: Yes. It's possible. As far as I know that all the systems on the RISE are connecting to the HEC Focused Run system, which helps to send the EWA session data to SAP. The ECS team is responsible to configure the EWA.

Vera Jiang

Dear Vera Jiang, Thanks for your valuable reply. Could you please clarify the below queries also. Is SAP Solution Manager have any differences between the on-Permisses and Cloud Edition? Is SAP Solution Manager have multiple editions/versions to be Chosen in RISE with SAP and GROW with SAP and what are the difference between them? Thanks & Regards Srinivas V

Dear Customer, The location of installation does not affect the functionality of the solution manager. Whether it is installed on-premises or in the cloud, the solution manager has the same capabilities. The main difference lies in who hosts the operating system and configuration. For more quesions about the RISE and GROW, please reach out to the sales and ECS team. Best regards, Vera Jiang
