Clarification on SAP Note 3025049 Compatibility with SAP_BASIS 750

Hello all,

I am seeking clarification regarding SAP Note 3025049 titled "Digital Signature Cross-Country: FI-CA, Prerequisite Objects for Note 3052143."

Our current system setup includes:

  • FI-CA Release 618 – which is listed as VALID FOR in the note.
  • SAP_BASIS Release 750 – which is listed as NOT VALID FOR in the note.

Given that our FI-CA component is compatible but SAP_BASIS is not, I would like to understand whether this note can be safely implemented in our system. Specifically:

  • Does the “NOT VALID FOR” section refer to system-level incompatibility that would prevent implementation?
  • Is there an alternative note or workaround available for systems running SAP_BASIS 750?

Your guidance will help us determine whether to proceed with implementation or await a compatible version.

Perhaps, a Basis team can rightly guide you and not sure, whether you already checked this.

So coming to your query, below are my thoughts

System-Level Incompatibility:
Yes, when a note lists a component (like SAP_BASIS 750) under “NOT VALID FOR,” it usually indicates that the note contains code or configuration that is incompatible with that release. This could be due to missing framework support, deprecated functions, or architectural changes in that version.

Impact on Implementation:
Attempting to implement the note on an incompatible SAP_BASIS release may result in errors during import, runtime failures, or unintended behavior. Even if FI-CA 618 is compatible, the underlying BASIS layer must support the technical objects and logic introduced by the note.

To my knowledge, as of now, there is no officially documented workaround or alternative note that directly supports SAP_BASIS 750 for Note 3025049. However, here are some steps you can take:

Check SAP Note 3052143:
Since 3025049 is a prerequisite for 3052143, review 3052143 itself to see if it offers compatibility guidance or alternative prerequisites for SAP_BASIS 750.

Use SAP Expert Search:
In the SAP ONE Support Launchpad, use the Expert Search to filter notes by component and release. You might find a variant or newer note that supports your BASIS version.

Raise an Incident ticket with SAP:
If this functionality is critical, consider raising a support ticket with SAP. They may offer a workaround, a custom correction, or confirm whether a future note will support SAP_BASIS 750.

Sure Lakshmipathi, I think it's better to raise an incident ticket to SAP, instead of perform implementation and affecting the system. Thanks for your explanation.
