hi,

I install NW04S Portal and I want to change portal url from http://<system>:52100/irj/portal/ to http://myportal.com.

I don't have an IIS or apache server in front and I will not have one in the future.

What will be the best way to do it.

Thank you

U can change ur portal url from http://<system>:52100/irj/portal to http://<system.com>;

follow below steps to change

Change the default portal URL to give the users a more user friendly URL. The following steps will show you how to modify the URL from the default port of 50000 to 80 which is the browser default. Also you will learn how to setup a redirect from the J2EE Engine so the user can find the portal without first inputting the /irj/portal to the URL.

Change the Port:

Switch to the J2EE Visual Administrator

Go to Cluster  Dispatcher  Services  HTTP Provider

Choose Ports

Change the Port number to 80 for http and 81 for ssl

Choos Update and Save.

Remove the irj/portal

Go to Cluster  Server  Services  HTTP Provider

Enter /irj/portal in the Start Page text field

Choose Save Properties button

Restart the Service

Krishna.

Hi Krishna,

I would like to ask one question, say i want to change the URL to http://myportal.com so in this case, beside of what you have said, i need to store this <myportal.com> somewhere in VA? or what will be the URL if i do only the steps suggested by you?

Hi Krishna,

I tried the steps suggested by you, but my changes does not reflect. It shows me error that " Web Container service is unavailable". When i try to open web container service in VA, it gives me error that " Error occured while loading web container service" So as a consequence, my portal do not come up. What to do now? I tried reverting back all default settings, but no luck.

Ameya

Hi Ameya,

If you want to change the company name, Change the machine name

basically, url for portal goes like this.

http://<machinename>:<port>/irj/portal.

With the steps mentioned above, you will be able to change the port and remove /irj/portal

if u want to change hostname check SAP Note :757692
