Hi,

> 1.What is the exact use of certificates in PI?

To provide security (if we are sending the data in middle no one can read the data).

> 2.What the keys associated with it?

Public key and Private key.

Suppose we have 2 customer A and B. Both should have Private and public keys, they can share there public keys to other partners but they don't share their private keys.

If A sending data to B then A encrypts the data using B's Private key then sends the data, once it receives B then he decrypts the ddata using his private key.

Using NWA we can upload the certificates.

NWA--> Configuration Management > Certificate and Keys> Now in the keystore view we can create the keystore --> after create key store, select that key store view and click on import from file button then you will get the popup there select certificate type and give the path to doenload certificate.
