Centralised Administration of Landscape XML for SAP GUI

Hello Community,

as far as i understand the Landscape XML is the main source of Information for entries in the SAPGUI,

it can either be stored on a Central Network Place, where the GUI can reach it, or distributed per scripts or other OS methods, so it is avaliable for the user in their respective folders.

Yet both methods need one XML that has to be provided to either the Network Place or the OS Method.

In our companys case, a script does the distribution yet one person is responsible for the contents in the XML. So if you want a Change in content, you have to rely on one person alone.

maybe my question is a trivial thing, however i was not able to find a conclusive answer on my own.

I wonder if there is a way or method of administrating the contents of the Landscape XML from a central point, acessable to multiple Users, without running the risk of "getting in the way of each other"?

I would like to conceptualize a way or method to my superiors, that would decentralize the administration of the SAP GUI entries.

Thank you very much!

Alessandro

Hello Alessandro,

Hoping that I have got your question right, I suggest following:

Have "the original" landscape file at a safe place with authoriziated access only and maybe versioning like in a source code repository. Once someone needs to change it, check it out, read it using transaction SLMT, make the changes, generate the new file. Then check this new file in in the repository as the newest version and make sure that its content is used as the central configuration file from SAP GUI for Windows resp. Java sitting on some server.
