Hi
We have upgraded our SAP Business Objects Analysis for Office tool from 1.4 to V2.2 SP-1.
While trying out some features such as Advanced & Dynamic Calculations from the Ribbon we noticed that the option was grayed out when attempting to include it in a few AO Datasources, but were active but for other AO datasources.
The AO Datasources in question are based on BEX Queries.
I am wondering if there are any pre-requisties on the BEX Query side or otherwise which may influence whether or not Advanced & Dynamic calculation option is active? I have not found any information regarding this from the SAP Admin or user guide. Hence, interested to know if there are others who may be aware of this issue in their own solutions.
Thanks in advance,
Zubin Kurian
Hi,
We managed to get this resolved with SAP's help. It turns out that if a BEX Query contains even a single pair of Key figures with identical descriptions, the Add Advanced Calculation (AAC) will get disabled for the entire Query. It perhaps makes sense, since when defining an AAC in AO, we only see the descriptions of the Keyfigures and not the technical names.
We verified this by creating a copy of a BEx Query (where AAC was disabled) and renamed a column so that all columns had distinct descriptions. Thereafter, we found that the AAC was enabled for the new Query.
SAP inform me that they will include this prerequisite for AAC in future documentation.
I will close this discussion. Hope this solution helps other seeing the same problem.
Cheers
Zubin

We got the same answer, but what i didn't understand is that why AO relies on the name instead of the enterprise ID of the object. Then it would work even with the same name as the ID is different.
I created an feature request on IdeaPlace for this: Advanced Calculation for Key Figures with same name (use enterprise ID instead of name) : View Idea

Hi,
Sorry for the long silence.
In the mean time I have raised an OSS message to have this issue addressed.
The replies so far have been that the design of the BEX Query can influence whether Advanced Calculations are available to use. In particular, the sample BEX Query (we provided where Advanced Calcuations was not possible) contained several Keyfigures/RKF/CKF whose descriptions were somewhat alike, but not identical. For eg. Invoiced Qty CW, Invoiced Qty CWLY....
We have found so far that this does not hold true as we have other BEX Queries with a similar trait where we can create Advanced Calcuations.
It's clear from the earlier posts that we still await clarity on what exactly determines the availability for Advanced Calculations.

Same here. For some keyfigures it is possible and for some not.

We are having this same issue. In some columns the calculation field is disabled. It is not clear why, if I open the same report in version 1.4 I am able to perform dynamic calculations. I have looked at the Key figures to see if there is anything that stands out as being different that might cause this to option to be unavailable but I see nothing.
We have the latest patch applied on V2.2. Did you ever find a resolution?

Have you selected the columns for the calculation? Please use the camera icon and share a screen shot of where this is not working

Hi Tammy,
Thanks for replying.
I have included 2 screenshots of two different AO reports; one in which the Advanced Calcuation Option is disabled and the other where it is enabled. In both cases, I have selected the Measure column before.
I could not find anything exceptionally different in the BEX Query definition underneath to draw any conclusions on why this happening.
Thanks & Regards

Hi Tammy,
Thanks for the reply and also the information about Patch-1 for AO 2.2 SP-1. I wil check if there is any further information in the Marketplaceregarding the issues which the patch will address.
I tried out your suggestion of selecting two columns at a time to see if the Add Advanced Calcuations (AAC) optioned was enabled.
Unfortunately, it did not in both AO queries including the one where the AAC was active for a single column. Just to add, the option Add Calcuation was enabled which allowed me to choose a simple operation with both columns as operands (Add/subtract/Multiply...).

Hello Zubin. I am using A Office 2.2 SP1 and was able to create an advanced calculation within a crosstab which the data source is a BEx Query. I selected a column header to make it enabled and opened the Calculation Editor. I created a couple of different calculations - NODIM on one column then a second calculation of NOERR on a completely different column - and they worked. I tried it on an entirely different BEx query and it worked there also.
So, I not sure what is unique about the query that isn't allowing it. Perhaps it has something to do with the key figure or structure within the query?
Let me know if I can help further...
Lynn
