Cancelling a backup session in HANA

Dear SAP,

We have HANA databases running in our production environment and the database backups are running in the Cohesity(3rd party). Sometimes we are observing the DB backups that going to hung status, during this time we are trying to cancel the hung backup from both HANA DB side and from Cohesity. We will follow the SAP note "2827950 - How-To: Cancel Hanging Backup on SAP HANA"  , most of the times that options which SAP has provided in note will work. And only restart is option to cancel the hung backup.  

In this situation, when the issue occurs in production DB, it is impossible restart the production DB during the business days. If we don't restart the DB the backup's will not happen in production system. Could you please check and help us to find a alternative solution to cancel the backup without DB restart.

Dear customer,

To resolve the issue you are facing, you can also try terminating the backup session by referring to KBA 2092196 - How-To: Terminating Sessions in SAP HANA. 
However, it is possible that none of the approaches mentioned in the article will work if you have already executed the 'BACKUP CANCEL' command and the backup session is still active. 
If you encounter this situation, the only option available is to restart the HANA database as described also in KBA 3423178 - How can a hanging backup session be canceled with the Alert-ID: 65 for long-running backups?. 

If you come across this issue, it is important to collect runtimedumps (three pieces with a 1-minute interval as mentioned in note 1813020) while the issue is occurring. 
These runtimedumps will help us analyze the problem and provide you with the root cause and resolution to prevent the HANA database from encountering the same situation again. 

Additionally, I strongly recommend keeping the HANA database updated to the latest revision whenever possible. 
Considering that the latest revisions are 2.00.059.15 (SPS05)/2.00.079.01 (SPS07)/2.00.080 (SPS08), the current HANA revision is quite outdated for a production system. 
Please consider upgrading the HANA database as soon as possible to minimize potential risks associated with this revision.
