Can you federate content from R3 into BTP workzone?

Hi Experts,

We have an existing transaction in an on premise ECC system (with embeded SAP_GWFND component) that we'd want to consume from the BTP Launchpad (SAP Build Workzone, advanced edition).

Is there any way to do this?

We tried creating an app in BTP with UI technology "SAP GUI for HTML" and the transaction code, but it didn't work (just got an internal error message when tried to access the tile within the launchpad).

We also tried federating the content from ECC into BTP workzone content management (as a new content provider), but didn't work either and all the documentation we found for on-prem federation only refers to SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Suite or SAP Enterprise Portal (nothing for ECC R3, so not sure if this is a viable option).

Any advice or suggestion would be appreciated.

ECC is seen as a business suite but you need to check the version of your system, you can find the details in this Note 3057822
