Can 'SAP HANA Studio' be used for cloud development ?

I have SAP HANA Studio (Version: 1.0.68, Build id: 201310151624 384084) installed and now I want to use it for SAP cloud platform.

So as per installation instructions on SAP Cloud Tools site, I tried to install the new software (Help -> install new software) from URL: SAP Development Tools for Eclipse - Juno Software Repository

But I get following error when I try to install it from SAP HANA Studio:

Missing requirement: SAP HANA Cloud Platform server adapter commons 1.13.1 (com.sap.core.tools.eclipse.server.common 1.13.1) requires 'bundle org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.core 0.0.0' but it could not be found

Any help on fix will be much appreciated?

Hello Naresh,

You should install the tools on top of Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers and not on top of HANA Studio.

More details here: https://help.hana.ondemand.com/help/frameset.htm?761374e5711e1014839a8273b0e91070.html

Edit: In order to completely answer your question. The scenario you are asking for is not supported yet, but it will be soon. Then you will start with plain Eclipse and install on top of it both HANA plugins and Cloud plugins.

Kind Regards,

Alex

Alex is right about the upcoming support for both HANA and Cloud tools installation in one plain Eclipse.

However, it's also possible presently to install Cloud tools in HANA Studio and thus to work with a single Eclipse IDE. All you need to do is to ensure that the following update sites are added and enabled in Eclipse Preferences > Available Software Sites:

http://download.eclipse.org/releases/juno

http://download.eclipse.org/mylyn/releases/juno

http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/updates/4.2

http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/repository/juno

HTH!

Hi Alexander,

You said that 'The scenario you are asking for is not supported yet, but it will be soon' , that means can we not connect to a cloud platform from SAP HANA Studio?

Thanks

Hi Gowthami,

The scenario that is enabled is:

Then you will start with plain Eclipse and install on top of it both HANA plugins and Cloud plugins.

You cannot connect to a Cloud HANA System with plain HANA Studio as there are no Cloud tools there. Also there are no plans to do this.

Kind Regards,

Alex
