Can I perform SD integration for utility products without using AVC?

Hello. I'm implementing the SD integration interface for our utility product sales on SAP S/4 HANA. I've noticed that utility product characteristics are treated as AVC values during utilities sales contract creation, but I'd like to use the LO-VC engine or in any case, no configuration profile at all as to avoid using AVC.

What options do I have here?

If I remember correctly, as long as you don't set a value for IS-U Product Attributes of the item during sales order creation, AVC won't be used. You can see the IS-U Product Attributes of the utilities product in the view I_UtilsProdAttributes. For example, in our case, if we set ISU_UIL_BASE_FEE when creating a sales order, then AVC is used.
