BW/4 HANA : can not create application component in the ODP-SAP source system

Hi all,

There is no option of "Application Component" after choosing the "New" on the "ODP-SAP".

So how to create new Application Component in the ODP-SAP source system ?

Hi Wei,

The application component is created / selected in the source system when we create a data source in source system ( t.code RSO2)

We then replicate the data source / all data sources in an application component in the BW system, the application component from source system is now visible in BW system

[ HANA Studio --> BW system --> Data Sources--> Source system e.g. S4H--> ZMY_APPCO--> ZMY_DATASOURCE--> Right Click--> Replicate. This will bring the application component [ZMY_APPCO] and the data source [ ZMY_DATASOURCE] to the BW system. Note application component [ZMY_APPCO] and the data source [ ZMY_DATASOURCE] were create in the source system 'S4H' in this example.

We do not create an application component directly in the BW system for a source system unless the BW system acts as a source system for another BW system. Hope this answers your query.

I have a similar issue, but we are using flat file source system. How to create application component for flat file source system. Since system doesn't allow to create a data source without application component.

We create application component for data source not for source system.
