Hi

I have created a user group in CMC - logged on as Administator. Created Top Level Security as Full Control for groups.

I am trying to add the Everyone group to the group I have created and get the following message. I am a bit stuck and need help Thanks

  • Sorry, you do not have the right to 'Edit objects' (ID: 6) for 'Everyone' (ID: 1). Please contact your administrator if you require this right.

By default, Editing and Deleting object on groups (Administrators, Everyone) is denied and this should not be changed as these are essential groups and should never accidentally be given the opportunity to delete or change them.

So stay away from changing them

by default there should be a way to simply reset these since they are assigned people should not be able to change these

The "Everyone" group is a top-level group and does not need to be added to any group.

Check the security for the everyone group. If the right to edit is explicitly denied or inheritance is turned off, then you don't have the right to edit it even though you have the right at the top level. You'll probably need to log in as Administrator to fix the issue.

Hello Mark,

Cause

To edit any of a user object's properties (such as group membership), the logged in user must have the 'Edit Objects' right on the user object he/she wishes to edit.

Resolution

The steps below grant 'User_1' the 'Edit Objects' right to all users in the the BI-ADM group . The same steps can be taken on an individual user or applied to all users in the User List.

  1. Launch the CMC and login as the Enterprise administrator
  2. Open Users and Groups
  3. Expand Group Hierarchy
  4. Select the BI-ADM group
  5. Open the User Security panel
  • Right-click the group and select User Security -or-
  • Highlight the BI-ADM group and select the User Security button from the toolbar
  • Click the Add Principals button
  • From the User List, select User_1 and add it to the Selected users/groups panel by clicking the arrow (>)
  • Click Add and Assign Security
  • Open the Advanced tab
  • Click Add/Remove Rights
  • Under General, explicitly grant the Edit Objects right
  • Ensure the Apply to Object and Apply to Sub-Object checkboxes remained checked
  • Click Apply and OK on both Assign Security Windows to apply the changes
