Business Function - Is it better to activate BFs manually or activate using transport?

Hello Everyone.

We are currently doing an SLP implementation using Ariba CIG.

In the configuration, we have to activate a few Business Functions (SFW5) to be able to use the transaction code (DRFOUT and DRFIMG).

However, we would like to know what's the best practice and the difference between

1. Activating the Business Functions in DEV / QA / PROD manually

2. Transport the activated business functions from DEV system to next system

Hi,

You should activate the Business Functions in DEV and save it into a transport request, and with this, transport to QAS and PROD, in fact, you shouldnt have permissions to do that directly in QAS or PROD.

IIRC the system has to be changeable to activate bf in SWF5. Q and especially P systems should only be set to changeable in rare cases. An auditor will not think that activating bf is such a case.
