On page https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SMSETUP/Diagnostics+Agent+7.2+Connectivity+Troubleshooting, I see in section "A Diagnostic Agent cannot connect" that I have to go to directory /usr/sap/<SID>/SMDA<instance nr>/work/ to execute the ./smsetup command. I have several DAs, but none has a file named smsetup.sh in its work directory. Every single instance has it inside /usr/sap/<SID>/SMDA<instance nr>/script/ (well, except for the last 2, they had no script at all, but showed errors during install with SAPJVM_8.1.055 and swpm 10 sp 23 pl00 and swpm 10 sp25 pl06, respectively.
BTW, I was looking for a way to make the connection work, after issuing the command several times, keeping stopping and restarting the instance, but it still doesn't show in SM. Telnet is possible, so it really is a connection problem of the DA.

As you mentioned that the URL is for "Diagnostics Agent 7.2 Connectivity Troubleshooting". Can you please check if the documentation below is the one which you referred?

And you are right, smdsetup.exe(Windows) or smdsetup.sh(Linux) is located in "/usr/sap/<SID_AGT>/SMDA<Instance_Number>/script", but not the /work folder of DAA.
To re-connect the DAA, please refer to resolution steps in KBA "2385361 - How to connect Diagnostics Agent to SAP Solution Manager 7.2 system". If it failed to connect with Solution Manager Java system, please collect the latest DAA support logs according to "2455767 - How to Generate or Download the Diagnostics Agent "Support Logs" - Solution Manager" and find the error message right after "Starting SMDAgent" line in latest SMDSystem.X.log of /logs folder.
Please search the displayed error in SAPForMe and see if there are available documentations for the error message. If no documentations are available, please raise a new case in component SV-SMG-DIA-SRV-AGT for further help.
