BRIM Integration/ Strategical relevance of BTP Integration Suite

Hi folks,

Today I got into trouble with a customer who we have sold Integration Suite as THE strategic platform for his enterprise integration needs. The customer already uses DI for data integration and is super SAP heavy/centric. Now one of the first new projects is introducing SAP BRIM. And I had to learn that SAP proposed to our customer not to use integration suite but instead to use convergent mediation (https://www.sap.com/germany/products/financial-management/convergent-mediation.html) which I did not even know about before.

My customer is furious that we proposed integration suite and now they need another integration product in their first project. Also I saw some BRIM standard content on the business hub, but at the same time convergent mediation seems to be the tool of choice. Is there anybody out there who already implemented BRIM and had to decide between the two integration solutions? Is IS really not suited equally?

This case also makes me wonder why sap would not go for an integration suite first approach for such cases. With the ERP getting more and more modular I am afraid that we will get more such cases where micro solutions get their own integration solution bundled. That would make IS with its recent price raise a more difficult sell since the strategic importance could be questioned.

Would be interesting to get the communities take on this and some kind of guidance would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Peter
