We just migrate to BO XI R2 desktop intelligence from BO 5.1 recently, and soon face a couple of severe problems with this new version of BO (never happens with the version 5.1). One of the outstanding issues is that BO XI R2 tends to hang sometimes while not running any report.
For example, we have a report open (but not running) in BO XI R2 desktop intelligence for a while (say an hour), while working on other programs, then we re-activate the BO app by clicking on its icon in the Windows toolbar, then click on its menu, the BO desktop intelligence app displays an empty menu and hangs (not responding).
Any one has the similar experience on BO XI R2 being frozen without even running a report? The environment is BO XI R2 (version 11.5.8.826) on Windows XP and the underlied database is Sybase 12.5.
Thank you very much indeed.

Tony Pampel:Does anyone know if BO has any problems with the newest version of Java? My colleagues can build/run the reports without any problems, and that seems to be the only difference. I've updated my Java and they haven't. Well, I had the same issue after installing the latest JAVA update, un-installing the latest JAVA update did appear to fix the problem. So, as an experiment, I tried a freshly built PC and installed the latest version of JAVA and it would not give me the prompt dialog box. Removing JAVA and installing the previous version gave me the prompt functionality. The previous versions of JAVA are available for download from the SUN website. Edited to say, I was having the problem with WEBI, not DESKI. Wolf

I run into a similar issue when I try to build queries that prompt the user for data. When I try to run the query for the first time, BO locks up. If I run the report from anywhere OUTSIDE of where I built it, prompts work just fine. Does anyone know if BO has any problems with the newest version of Java? My colleagues can build/run the reports without any problems, and that seems to be the only difference. I've updated my Java and they haven't.
Any help would be appreciated.
