Hi Experts
We are trying to create WEBI reports based on BEx queries, but we are experiencing some issues. We have created two BEx queries og two separate multiproviders and opened them for external use but checking the OLE DB enable checkbox. In WebI we are now only able to use on of the queries as a data source (even though both are OLE DB enabled).
Are there any limitations to which multiproviders that can be used to create BEx queries for WebI reports?
We are using BO BI 4.0 and BW 7.0 SP 5.
Kind regards
Erik
Hi,
What issue are you experiencing exactly?
FYI - There is also a SAP GUI bug where the 'allow external access' tickbox is "unreliable"
Else, your created the OLAP .cns in CMC using Prompt authentication (only OK for Analysis for OLAP)
Or your BO User doesn't have sufficient access to the "top level folder" in the CMC > Connections structure
Finally, You should ideally be on BI 4.0 SP02 Patch2.11 (everything prior is buggy), and BW 7.01 SP10 - That's the version most of our succesful reference customers are rolling out currently.

Hi Henry
Do you know if there is a note or future GUI patch that fix the bug you mention regarding the unreliable 'allow external access' tickbox. We use the latest GUI patch level now.
The OLAP connection is set to use SSO with the BW system (the users are also syncu2019ed from the same system u2013 SAP authentication).
The user we use is added to the Administrator group so this is not a BO authorization issue I think.
Could this error be because of the low support package level of the BW system or is this another error?
Kind regards
Erik
Hi,
well, you haven't said what versions you are using exactly , so.. ( GUI, BW, BI )
Anyway, let me explain my perspective:
if the BICS connections are configured SAP SSO, and your Enterprise User (who is part of BO Administrator group) is mapped to an SAPsecR3 alias (SAP User) ... then it must be the SAP Alias who hasn't got permissions to see BEx Query #2 .
It doesn't matter which BO Group you are in. The inherited BW Authorizations are restricting content.
Maybe, try hardcoding the OLAP connection with a SAP_ALL profile , and test the outcome?

Hi again Henry
We use BW 7.01 Support package 5 (we know it should have been at least 6), SAP GUI 7.20 patch 9, BEx 7.2 patch 6 and BO 4.0 patch 11.
The BW user that is synchronized to BO has almost all rights (almost sap_all). When we log on to BEx directly with the same user we use in BO, we are able to run both BEx queries without any problems. When we then log on to BO (with the same user), we are only able to use on of the queries in WebI.
As you say, we have to following setup:
- BO users are synchronized from our BW system and when they log on to BO they use the SAP authentication.
- The user that is synchronized from BW has been added to the Administrator group in BO
- The OLAP connection is set to SSO so that the authorization in the BW system is used.
It is really strange that we are not able to use on of our multi providers in BW in WebI. As you say, we just need to try debugging with changing the authorization concept, changing the OLAP connection setup and so on to see if that helpsu2026
Kind regards
Erik
Hi,
Make sure you Double Check the radio button option SAVED by revisiting the Bex query second time after you Check-save
come out and go back in again to Bex.
Note 1629430 - Query Designer: flag "Release OLE DB for OLAP" is not saved
1581271 - SAPBWNews NW 7.x BW Add-On Frontend Patch 402 - GUI 7.20
1540836 - SAPBWNews NW 7.x BW Add-On Frontend Patch 500 - GUI 7.20
1085218 - NetWeaver 7.x BW Frontend Patch Delivery Schedule
Make sure you create a new OLAP Connection to your BW system so that when you choose BEX as your source in Webi it automatically shows you the respective BEX Queries to create webi.
Thanks,
Suresh Reddy
