BO 4.0 FP4 - BEx Query description is not shown in Web Intelligence - only technical names.

Hi everyone,

we are using BEx Querys for our Web Intelligence reports.

After updating BO 4.0 from FP3 to FP4, the descriptions of the BEx querys are not shown anymore. Instead, the technical name is displayed.

This happens for both, rich-client and web application. Also for existing and for new querys.

I attached a screenshot to clarify the problem, I hope someone can help.

Regards
Lukas

Hello,

You will always see the technical name of the BEx quey.

Thanks,

Hello Vinay,

while running FP3 or earlier releases, the column "Namen" always displayed the custom description of the query.

Hello,

I figured out that the technical name is shown because there is no english description for the querys, only german ones.

Web intelligence only accesses the english descriptions, although all the BW connections are set to german language.

This only happens for web intelligence since the FP4 Update, Crystal Reports is working fine and showing the german description.

Hi Lukas,

we had the same issue in BI 4.0 SP2 Patch 15, upgraded to BI 4.0 SP4 Patch 5 and the problem is still there.

BEx query descriptions in Web Intelligence are shown only in English. Configuration in OLAP connection or user preferences are not used (no matter if you set Spanish as connection language).

This did not happen in BI 4.0 SP2 Patch 13 where descriptions came in connection language.

The only workaround is to translate objects in English after creation, but this is not a nice solution.

Best regards,

Nacho
