BI4.1 Linked Universes

I can't clearly see this anywhere and I've been looking for a while, but does BI4.1 support the migration of Linked Universes, we have a customer wanting to upgrade from XIr2 (!!!) to BI4.1 and they have a number of Linked Universes they'd like to migrate.

Linked universes (UNV) work in BI4.1 same way they did in XIR2. You can migrate them and continue to use them.

New universe format (UNX) does not support linking, so when your client will design new universes they will have to come up with new ways ....

Hovewer, they can continue using existing UNV's and create new UNV's and linked them at will in 4.1

Thanks very much Denis and Manikandan for your responses.

I'd hoped that UNX supported linking, but as the customer can use the UNV format still, I think they'll be happy with that.

Are they any plans to support linking for UNX universes, I know someone will ask me the question!

Thanks,

Ian

Not aware of any plans to add linking support in UNX. As far as I know "linked" universes were not recomended starting with 6.1.x

For those still interested, it appears that they are reintroducing linked universes in BI4.2:

Hello Ian,

Linked universes are no longer supported in BI 4.x. I would suggest you to have a look at below. at page5.

Linked universe continues to work in BI4.0 as long as they are in .unv format. If you want them in .unx format as a work around in BI 4.x, you can propose creation of  Business layer views that are in turn created on top of the same data foundation layer.
