BI 4.1 Auditing Universe

Former Member

Hello,

We have recently upgraded to BI 4.1 and I am trying to reconfigure the auditing reports we had. Previously we were using the default ms sql 2008 express edition and on BI 4.1 (clean installation to formatted machine), we again used an ms sql 2008 database instead of the default sybase sql anywhere database.

The problem is when I try the sample universes designed for BO 4.0, it just doesn't work. In IDT when checked for integrity, it gives lots of errors which makes me think BO 4.1 requires a different set of sample auditing universes. Has SAP published or announced to publish such sometime? I searched the forums but with no luck couldn't find anything.

Or, is it possible to adapt and use the BO 4.0 universes in some way?

Designing my own auditing universe is out of options unfortunately.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Emre,

In BOBI 4.1 we have the new Audit Universe, Download it from http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/40711187-04e8-2d10-d190-851e20c7665a

and make it working, below link will help me with audit database configuration and Audit Universe

http://scn.sap.com/community/bi-platform/blog/2013/01/07/sap-businessobjects-40-auditor-configuratio...

and there are some threads in scn which may be helpful like

Hello Fadouna,

The audit universes of BO 4.0 actually don't work with BO 4.1. I have already downloaded those universes and chose the MS SQL one and after changing the connection to my actual auditing ms sql database, it didnt work. When checked for integrity, it says those tables in the data foundation don't exist however, I can see those tables under the connection tab. I can delete the table and insert the same one from the connection tab and after doing that the number of errors in the integrity check is reduced by 1. That means the tables exist but it can't map them to each other.

I can't build the whole universe by deleting and re-inserting the tables. Then downloading it from sap documents would be pointless. Also I am trying to avoid building the primary-foreign keys and the whole cardinality check stuff.

Hello Ambreen,

You said we had new audit universes in BO 4.1 but the link you provided opens the BO 4.0 universe pack. My database and servers are already configured for auditing. I just want to adapt my auditing universe and start the reporting. Please see my answer for Fadouna above.

Thank you all.

Hi Emre,

Audit universe for BO 4.0 should work for your BI4.1 as well.  Try changing Qualifier of your Audit tables as descibed in thread below http://scn.sap.com/message/14407907

Hi Emre,

As said 4.0 Audit universe should work for 4.1 as well.

Hello Audit experts

Does anyone know if it is possible to monitor the usage of universe objects in the auditor of 4.1 ?

We need this to be able to remove obsolete objects from our universes and we need to know whether or not a given object is actually used.

This could be done in the 3.1, so it is an enourmous regression for us if we lose the possibility to clean and trim our universes

Hi,

please can you post your own question as a new discussion so that you get more attention?

also, any information you could provide about your Xi3.1 solution for the same, that would be helpful for suggestions.
