Hello:

I understand that BI 2025 will no longer support UNV.  We have started planning to upgrade to BI 2025. I have some questions.

1) Will I still be able to at least open the Webi reports pointing to UNV in BI 2025? I understand we may not be able to refresh which is fine.

2) Is there a way to audit and identify what reports are pointing to UNV especially Personal and Inbox documents? Once identified is there a way to get rid (bulk delete) of the old webi reports that use UNV and not needed?

3) What tools are everyone using to repoint the Webi reports to UNX? We are looking into Workflow Assistant tool. Looks like we can only repoint Public reports using Workflow Assistant tool and not Personal docs.

Thank you all in advance!

I don't have a copy of BI 2025 yet to look at but I will try to answer your questions.

  1. I don't know for sure but I doubt you will be able to open the reports that point to a .unv universe after the upgrade to BI 2025.  I think the connectivity won't be available in that version.
  2. There are a couple of ways you can see what reports are pointed to a .unv universe:
    1. Navigate to the .unv universe that you want to see the reports that use it, right click on the universe, select Tools -> Check Relationships.  This will display all of the objects that relate to that universe.  This will include folders, connections, Web Intelligence reports, and Crystal Reports that reference that universe.  This list cannot be exported but you can select objects from the list to go to them or delete them.  This would be your best option to bulk delete reports from within Business Objects.
    2. Create a report using the BI platform CMS system database.unx.  This will take a little work because the universe isn't very intuitive for building the relationships to get the correct data.  You may have to experiment with different queries.  I've found this query to give me a listing of Web Intelligence reports:

  3. We were unable to get Workflow Assistant to work reliably in our Business Objects environments (BI4.3sp2 patch 7).
We looked into other tools and selected APOS WebI Migrator.  It will copy the reports, update the copies, validate the copies against the originals, backup the originals to a LCMBIAR file, and then overwrite the original reports with the updated copies.  It will also update reports in Users Personal Folders and Inboxes as well as the Public Folders.  We did test this to make sure it was capable of doing this.

Hello @JohnClark, Thank you so much for your response. I will take a look at your suggestions. And also Thank you for pointing out the 3rd party tool that you use, that is very helpful. I will look into that as well.
