Version 16.1 of ASE is postponed.
There is no information on the next version of IQ after 2027.

What does SAP plan for these historic Sybase customers who use these DBMS for their own applications ?

ASE 16.1 is not postponed.  It is still planned for Q4 of this year, per the PAM - https://userapps.support.sap.com/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/support/pam/pam.html#ts=5&s=&filter=favorites...

Both SAP ASE and SAP IQ continue to be fully maintained. The latest PL release for SAP ASE was released 13.05.2024 and the latest PL release for SAP IQ was released 22.03.2024.

Product Management and Engineering are currently discussing future release plans and I expect to have an update within the next month.

I would recommend that SAP IQ customers take a look at SAP HANA Cloud, Data Lake. This is the cloud native version of SAP IQ and innovations related to SAP IQ are being delivered to SAP HANA Cloud, Data Lake. This blog highlights some of the benefits available if you choose to migrate your on premise system to SAP HANA Cloud, Data Lake: https://community.sap.com/t5/technology-blogs-by-sap/top-5-reasons-to-migrate-sap-iq-systems-to-sap-...

Hi Robert, any news regarding the future of SAP IQ for on-premises installations? Is it still possible to buy/resell IQ after 2025-12-31? Will there be an IQ 16.2 or IQ 17 or similar? Unfortunately, unlike ASE (16.1 to be released in 2025), I did not find a successor for IQ in the PAM yet. Thanks. BR, Leupi

SAP IQ is available as part of the Adaptive Server Platform which also includes SAP ASE and SAP Replication Server. We are working through the planning process for the next major release of SAP IQ.

Hello @FchSMF
as the ILM and NLS-Solution are supported for S/4 and BW/4 which means even supported after 2024, you can expect also the Support of SAP IQ and ASE beyond 2027.
see the online Document - SAP (Sybase) IQ – the hidden treasure … and SAP BW/4 HANA 2021 – 3rd Generation in Sync with SAP S/4
best regards Roland

I understand, but starting the migration of a production DBMS for 2027/2030 starts now. Official information from SAP would be reassuring for these customers ASE and IQ are fantastic DBMSs but we do not feel a clear desire at SAP to develop them
