Hi,

Can some one pls advise impact on BW side if we archive ECC data.

Currently, We are ruining full load data from ECC to BW every day and as per our BW consultant we cannot change it to delta load due to some limitation with some info queues which requires only full load.

We are planning to archive all data till Dec 2020 in ECC. By doing so BW system will not have data before Jan 2021 and the reports which are fetching before 2020 data will not show any data also if business request to build new reports starting 2018 till 2023 we cannot full fill this request.

Can someone advise what is the best solution to archive ECC data with no impact on BW side.

Your response will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Sultan

Hi Syed,

As i believe i don't think ECC Archiving will impact on BW.

one thing i need to know, BW side how you're loading daily full load. i mean at reporting target level are you deleting every day and reloading? or in between using any standard DSO which holds historic data?

but future purpose, you should have historic data in BW middle layer or final reporting layer.

Hello Raman,

Thanks for the response.

Yes we are deleting at the BW side and performing full load from ECC on daily basis.

Do we have an option preserve historical data till 2020 in BW and delete the data starting from 2021 year and continue the full load?.

Hi Sultan,

Thank you for your reply.

You can create a abap program to perform data deletion based on selections(date/year) and add in your process chain.

in process chain abap program should be added before dtp. so that yesterday loaded req data will delete it. next dtp will load todays data up to date.

you can check with your ABAP consultant.

Hope this would be helpful.
