API to read and set Story Filters

Is there an API to read Story Filter values ?

Is there an API to set Story Filter values for a new story upon Initialization or upon clicking a button ?

Please note that I'm talking about Story filters, not Page filters or Page input controls.

I've been through the blog but it doesn't seem to help.

Dear customer,

You could use Alias.FlatHierarchy in setDimensionFilterWithHierarchy.

Do you know if we have a way to include a certain list values in the story filter for user selection but only select a certain values by default?

What ever values I include in 'setDimensionFilterWithHierarchy' is selecting all. I just want it available in the filter but unselected.
