And an equally special thanks to aRS over in ABAP general

After six hours of fruitless searching in the SOFF and SDOK tables, aRS told me the table I was looking for is SRGBTBREL.

I'm very lucky he happened to be on-line at 530pm US Central Time on a Saturday afternoon - otherwise, I'd probably still be looking.

And a second special thank-you to aRS .... details here:

Does anyone know who "aRs" actually is? (If he's a he, I think he may be Superman; if she's a she, I think she may be the Bionic Woman.)

Either way, he knows A LOT about A LOT of things.

Hi David,

Have you ever considered forming your own community?

Hi Chester -

Your post reminded me:

a) how much I admire SDN'ers who don't have the courage to post snide remarks under their real names;

b) how much I admire SDN'ers who choose to post snide remarks in threads that are trying to express genuine appreciation for an extremely valuable member of SDN;

With posters like you around, why would I want to leave SDN and form my own community?

I think that you might perhaps owe aRs an apology.

It will be interesting to see if any SDN moderators agree, and/or see the wisdom in deleting your post and this one.

Regards

Hi David,

I am deeply upset that my rather innocent question should prompt such a vitriolic response.

I was under the impression that the majority of your posts were tongue in cheek, and to me you were a legend, being the most prolific coffee corner contributor ever.

Your contributions have generally been light hearted and not without a hint of irony ( your notorious hippie song post as an example). I had thought you did not take your self very seriously and for that mistake I apologize.

I also apologize to aRs ( if this is his real name ), I hope he is not as easily offended as you are.

I hope the moderators are not overseeing coffee corner with heavy hands, as we would not be treated to your fascinating streams of consciousness on such a regular basis if they were.

Cheer up,

Chester

Thanks for sharing this valuable insight. The explanation around SRGBTBREL and the relationship to SOFFCONT1 is extremely helpful, especially the GUID offset detail, which is often overlooked. This will definitely save time for anyone troubleshooting SAP Office and attachment relationships.

Acrtually, SRGBTBREL-BRELGUID is not the end of the story ... you have to perform a subtraction of 4 on the hex in positions 5-7 (offset 0) of srgbtbrel-brelguid in order to get the correct phio_id in SOFFCONT1 (and SOFFPHIO and SOFFPHF).

Here are three examples:

          1         2         3

Thanks for sharing this classic insight. SRGBTBREL is still the key entry point for GOS attachments even today, and the GUID offset detail when linking to SOFFPHIO / SOFFCONT1 is something many developers miss. This thread is still relevant for troubleshooting attachment issues.
