Hi dear experts,
hopefully someone might help me out with this: we need to restrict the testers from deleting the testcases in ALM, thus they do not need a permission for editing the testcase. However, at the same time they should be able to execute the testcases, create/edit defects. Is there a special role for this or how can this be achieved? Thanks a lot in advance,
Kind regards,
Yuliya

Hi Yuliya,
just wanted to share a recent update with regards to your question.
Since last week there is a role-based restriction for test plan and test case deletions in SAP Cloud ALM.
To prevent accidental deletion of test results, the deletion of test cases with existing test runs is now restricted to users with the role Project Administrator or Project Lead.
Users with the Project Member role can delete test cases if those were not executed yet.
Same concerns Test Plan deletion.
Please refer to SAP Cloud ALM updates from 19.02.2025 (services Test Preparation and Test Plans) - https://help.sap.com/whats-new/0cb91c1ef73b400f881823f8d5fd2dea?locale=en-US
I hope it helps.

Hi Yuliya,
SAP Cloud ALM does not yet provide different authorizations for Test Author and Tester. So this can only be ensured by instructions to the project / tester team.
We are currenlty in the design of dedicated autorization roles for Cloud ALM - Implementation that will reflect your concern.
Hope this helps.
Best Regards Reiner
