Hello all,
in smart predict in SAP Analytics Cloud there ist the possibiliy to create predictive scenarios based on classification clustering, regression and timeseries. Does anybody know where i can get information regarding the algos behind? Is it e.g Neural networks....
Do i have generel the possibility to influence the predictive algos in SAC, e.g. enhancing by Python or Google logics?
thanks for your help!

Hello Christian, this is a great question so thanks for asking. Here are my initial elements and we can discuss more of course.
Smart Predict automates the creation of predictions to easily augment SAP Analytics Cloud stories and planning models. We really want to give the ability to our end-users most of them not being professional data scientists to leverage the power of predictive.
To this aim, we offer automated classification, regression and time series techniques. Clustering is not part of Smart Predict for the time being. We do have a couple of public posts to explain in general terms & principles the techniques we use, so I'll refer you to these posts for more details. We do plan for refresh the post related to classification / regression.
Similar to the positioning I explained at the beginning we do not plan to offer the possibility for our end-users to change the logic of the algorithms being used. In other words, Smart Predict is not an (automated) data science platform. It's a very integrated & automated way, part of SAP Analytics Cloud, to easily augment SAP Analytics Cloud key assets with predictions. There are other products in the SAP portfolio, for instance SAP Data Intelligence and SAP HANA where custom logic like you mention can be used.
I hope this helps, I wish you a great day,
Kind regards,
Antoine Chabert

Hi Antoine,
Thanks a lot for your answer and the links to the exusting posts dealing with this topic.
One additional question: when using smart discovery or insights you offer also an automated time series forecast. Is this the same logic / algo behind as it is implemented in smart predict szenario for time series forcasting? Or what is different?

Christian
