Hello All,
I am facing one issue with adding new columns from different source file ( excel) to existing model ( BW acquired Conection). I have one model created based on a import connection and now I want to add new columns to this model which will be coming from a excel file. This excel file has a common dimension which i want to use as a joining or linking dimension. when import this new file to the model and open the file to map , the measure is shown as dimension and no there is way to change it to measure.
If you have faced this and know how to resolve this issue , would really appreciate your help. Thank you in advance
Regards,
Anita

Once the model is created, you are not able to add new column(dimension) into the model when import data from file. What you can do is, first add this new dimension into model through modeler and then load data from file into this updated model.

Hi William, I added the rebuild the model and added the blank columns for the columns I want to add. However when i add new import file only with these new columns and map it with the newly created columns, I still get error that the rest of dimensions are not mapped. So I tried to set the default value either value or '#', is this correct approach?
Hello William, thank you for your reply. I will try this option

Hi adding new dimensions is a pain - rebuilding a model is a pain. Next time you rebuild the model - it’s brought back to its initial state and things gets reset and deleted
I would recommend building a new model - you will never get to a state where you are satisfied
Models are kind of set in stone once built
And sap has nothing on the roadmap for models - only datasets - but in the current form in Q3 2010 release - it’s still not workable. Let’s hope for Q4 2020 or Q1 2021. But for models...

We are on 94 now - and we need more. A lot more in order to convince SAP that we need to rebuild models. Vote vote vote.
