Adding Fiori apps to Launchpad when there is no Business Role

Typically, when I want to add a Fiori app to my Launchpad I simply add the Business Role to my SAP user ID...easy peasy. However, not all apps have a Business Role - for example:

Fiori App - Close Evaluation

This app says:

This application is not assigned to a business catalog. To add this application to your SAP Fiori launchpad, you can create a reference from the technical catalog of the app to your business catalog.

I tried to do this but I'll probably do more harm than good...can someone please provide the detailed steps for this?

jocelyn.dart - this might be a question for you! 🙂

Thank you,

Thomas

Hi Michael

Which SAP S/4HANA release?

If you are on SAP S/4HANA 2020 you use the Launchpad App Manager - do NOT use the Launchpad Designer in 2020.

Only use the Launchpad Designer if you are on SAP S/4HANA 1909 or below.

The general process is described in my blog: https://blogs.sap.com/2020/11/13/sap-fiori-for-sap-s-4hana-adding-custom-content-to-business-roles-2...

The best option is to find a similar SAP Fiori app, copy that to your custom technical catalog, and adjust the entries from there.

Can you explain a little more about the intention of your business role and SAP S/4HANA release? Then I can perhaps help with more detailed steps.

Thank you, Jocelyn. We simply want to get this app to appear on the Fiori Launchpad.

It's so easy to do for the apps that have a Business Role assigned, which is why I'm so baffled why it's so hard to add the apps that don't have a Business Role.
