This article may help: Technique 4: Download Via Linked Server

Ignore the "in-memory" aspect of the article, it's not important to you.

Neither is the "download" aspect, just change the INSERT to SELECT.

The code shows SA11 and SS2008, but it's probably the same for SS2017.
