About the search engine platform (BI 4.2) and the conflicting results

Hi eveyone,

I have a question about the Search Engine.
In our 4.2 SP5 cluster we have 3 APS Search servers configured (one for each node)
We have configured the Master Index location in a shared file system (/datasearch/PlatformSearchData) and we have leaved Content Stores,Temporary File, Delta Indexes in a local file system ({bobj.enterprise.home}/data/PlatformSearchData/workplace).
In our environment we have the following situation:
APS Search 1 = 7020 indexed documents

APS Search 2 = 6950 indexed documents

APS Search 3 = 7005 indexed documents.

We have understood that not all documents have been indexed by all APS search. It's correct ??
The search results changes according to the APS Search used. In our case we have the document "prova_search_fabio2" and I try to look for the document in Bi Launch Pad.

ASP Search 1 and 3 don't find the document "prova_search_fabio2", this is a part of the APS 1 log:

Do you face any issues while searching the document in the Bi-launchpad?
There is a possibilty that the document is not yet idexed and store in Master Index location.

Hi,

Each Adaptive Processing Server creates its own content store. The content store contains information such as id, cuid, name, kind, and instance extracted from the master index in a format that can be read easily. This helps to quicken the search.

So it can be that the APS Search 2 has the Content store for the document you are searching.

Did you try searching document after stopping APS Search 2?

So does the APS change every time. I mean at first you mentioned that APS 1 and 3 cannot find the document and APS 2 can.

Now you have mentioned when you keep APS 3 up it brings the result and APS 1 and 2 does not.

Well as per the documentation Platform Search supports load balancing for both indexing and searching. Each node functions independently to index the content and create delta indexes. Only one node in a cluster will act as a master index and merge the delta indexes into the master index. All nodes have to be able to access the master index.

we have configured the Master Index location in a shared file system (/datasearch) on linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.3 (Maipo).

Hi Fabio,

As per the screenshot the Master Location is not on Shared drive.

I could see /datasearch/PlatformSearch/Data as the location defined.
In a cluster enviorment, with ( APS hosting Platform Search service) running on all nodes, the Master index location should be on share drive, with the path accesible from all nodes.

Please confirm the above.
