I recently got to use SAP GUI for Java with the newly enhanced ABAP Editor. I am using 8.10 rev5 ARM64 on MacOS. One missing feature seems to be, that when you press enter to add the next line in your code, the cursor is not moved to the same level of indentation as the previous line. It always is positioned at the first column, regardless of previous indentation or control structure / modularization units used.
In SAP GUI for Windows and in the ABAP Development Tools this is different. In ADT the cursor stays on the same level of indentation as the previous line (i. e. adding spaces before the cursor). In SAP GUI for Windows the ABAP Editor actually tries to be even smarter and indent even more if a control structure has been opened. I personally prefer the way ADT does it but would be fine with either in SAP GUI for Java. Currently you have to press the tab key lots of times or use the pretty printer way earlier than usual.
I am not sure if this missing functionality is documented somewhere / on a roadmap. Can it be added?
Request clarification before answering.
Dear @fabianlupa,
This functionality is in our TODO list.
Please refer to the release notes of the new versions to check once this is implemented.
I recommend you to create a notification for this so you are posted once this SAP Note is updated.
Best Regards,
Guilherme

Hi Guilherme,
thanks for the response. I already have that note bookmarked 😉 And was pleasantly surprised that my issue with the debugger focus was already resolved before I could report it.
If the TODO list / roadmap isn't public, I'll just ask about it the way I did here. Good to know you already have it in your backlog.
Best regards
Fabian
