ABAP Development in S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Dear Experts,

We are considering building an S/4HANA for our own learning purposes.
The purpose is to use it to learn and verify each function of S/4HANA and its extensions.

We are considering which of the three environments to choose: ① S/4HANA (on-premise), ② S/4HANA Cloud Public edition, or ③ S/4HANA Cloud Private edition.

So, I would like to ask the following questions.
If I purchase the S/4HANA Cloud Public edition, is it possible to do side-by-side development using ABAP?

Also, is it possible to learn and verify development methods with the S/4HANA Cloud Public edition, which is a non-commercial license available to SAP partners?

Hi,

Yes, you can do side-by-side development using ABAP. You can create custom applications side-by-side on SAP Business Technology Platform and deploy into S/4HANA Cloud Public edition.

If you mean you are using TDD, you can learn and verify development methods with the S/4HANA Cloud Public edition.

I'm glad to hear that you can use ABAP.

However, is it correct that it is limited to custom application development and side-by-side development, and custom development of standard functions is not possible?

s4 public cloud system also support developer extensibility, just like how you do badi implementation(to enhance the standard function) in on-premise system.
