Hello together,
I search for a overview about what is the "differents" between the several used terms of "Gateway" in SAP.
So we have the problem that we use RFC, WebServices and now we want a closer look to Odata resp. the HANA/Fiori topic. Because we have different versions of SAP Netweaver (from 6.20 to 7.40) we have also a different understanding of Gateway in SAP.
Now I try to find out the history of the name Gateway and the technical meaning in SAP until now.
Request clarification before answering.
Hello and thank you for your answer,
I changed the topic so it is now clear.
I searched for a overview that explains the different (technical) meaning of Gateway in SAP.
Now it is a little clearer.
But is there a difference of the "old" Gateway (TC: SMGW in a 6.40based System) and SAP Gateway which is always mentioned with odata?
OR is this "old" Gateway now a part of SAP Gateway and we speak always from the same component.
OR are these two Gateways different components with same naming?
Therefore is there somewhere a overview which Gateway has what functionality in which Netweaver Version?
..Something like that.
Thank you

"SAP Netweaver Gateway" is same as "SAP Gateway". Former was the original name.
"SAP Gateway Foundation" (technical name SAP_GWFND) is the software component which contains SAP Gateway functionality.
Not sure what is "Overview Gateway". Where did you hear it?
